Cookie Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Vancely uses only what it needs to work: two essential cookies for signing in and a little browser storage for your own preferences. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

In short

  • No tracking. Our website loads no analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts, and we do not use cookies to follow you across other sites.
  • Essential cookies only. The cookies we set keep you signed in and protect your account from forged requests.
  • No cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent under the ePrivacy rules, and we set no others, so we do not show a consent banner.

Cookies we set

These are first-party cookies set by our own server on our domain. They are set when you sign in or use the dashboard, and may also be set when a page loads data from our API (for example the current plans on the pricing page).

CookiePurposeDuration
Session cookie (name ending in -session)Keeps you signed in to the dashboard and links your requests to your session. Its contents are encrypted.Expires after a period of inactivity
XSRF-TOKENProtects your account against cross-site request forgery: the dashboard sends it back with every change you make.Same as the session cookie

Browser storage in the dashboard

The dashboard stores two preferences in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not used to track you.

  • wa.app.sidebar: whether you collapsed the dashboard sidebar.
  • wa.flow-builder.layout: how you arranged the steps on the bot flow canvas.

Light and dark mode follow your device settings, so no preference is stored for them.

The website chat widget

When a business adds our chat widget to its website, the widget sets no cookies. It keeps a small record in the visitor's own browser (local storage, under a key starting with bvchat:) so the chat survives a page reload:

  • a visitor token that lets the browser continue its own chat;
  • the visitor's own copy of the recent conversation (up to the last 100 messages), whether the chat is open, and the unread count.

This copy stays on the visitor's device: our servers erase chat messages when the chat ends. It expires after 30 days, and choosing "Clear chat" in the widget deletes it straight away. If the browser blocks storage, the widget keeps the chat in memory for that page only. A business that adds the widget is responsible for mentioning it in its own privacy or cookie notice.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block our essential cookies you will not be able to sign in to the dashboard; the public pages still work.

Changes

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it. See also our Privacy Policy.
